A Casa Familiar Rural (CFR) tem sua origem na França em 1937, formados por pessoas que queriam ajudar as famílias rurais e seus filhos aplicando uma pedagogia de Alternância – os jovens vão para suas comunidades duas semanas e lá falam e vivenciam suas dificuldades com os familiares e retornam para CFR trazendo todas as suas dúvidas para serem analisadas por um grupo de monitores capacitados nas áreas afins para aquela alternância. Transformando a prática e a teoria em qualidade de vida no campo desses jovens trabalhadoras e trabalhadores rurais.
Tânia Maria Tavares uma das coordenadoras da Casa Familiar Rural/Santarém afirma que: “Hoje, temos CFR em Alencar, Juruti, Óbidos e região do Baixo Amazonas e Santarém. E objetivo da casa é uma alternativa de educação para jovens trabalhadores e trabalhadoras rurais e tenta proporcionar uma educação num regime de internato. E foi implantado aqui no município de Santarém, através do Fórum da Produção Familiar formado por entidades daqui do município e movimentos sociais”.
