MPF quer pressa para solução de conflito no rio Arapiuns

Lideranças indígenas e ribeirinhas na praia de São Pedro durante a reunião com MPF
Ontem, após nova reunião para debater o assunto, comunidade incendiou duas balsas com madeira que estavam bloqueadas há mais de um mês. Moradores apontam atividade madeireira irregular e MPF pede intervenção mais eficaz de autoridades.
O conflito que se arrasta há quase um mês entre madeireiros e populações tradicionais do rio Arapiuns, em Santarém, oeste do Pará, teve mais um momento de tensão hoje. Os moradores incendiaram as duas balsas carregadas de madeira que estavam bloqueadas desde o dia 17 de outubro no rio.
O episódio aconteceu após reunião em que estiveram presentes representantes do Ministério Público Federal, do Instituto de Desenvolvimento Florestal do Pará e da Prefeitura de Santarém. O MPF considera necessária uma intervenção mais eficaz dos órgãos públicos para mediar o conflito. Entre as medidas que já solicitou, recomendou à Funai que apresse a demarcação da Terra Indígena Maró e pediu a extensão da operação Arco do Fogo para o território que está em disputa.
O estudo de identificação e delimitação da Terra Maró foi concluído em julho, mas até agora não foi apreciado pela presidência da Funai. – A lei estabelece prazo de 15 dias para que a Fundação Nacional do Índio aprecie o relatório de identificação, diz a recomendação do MPF. O prazo já se esgotou, mas a recomendação concede outros 15 dias para que seja resolvido o problema.
Para a procuradora da República Nayana Fadul, que assina a recomendação, a demora potencializa a tensão na região. – Índios das etnias Borari e Arapium e empresários madereiros estão em conflito, gerado, entre outros fatores, pelas permutas realizadas pelo Estado do Pará, sendo que parte da Gleba Nova Olinda I, que é estadual, invade território ocupado tradicionalmente pelos indígenas.
Os moradores acusam a Secretaria de Meio Ambiente do Pará de permitir manejo irregular no território que reivindicam como posse das comunidades tradicionais. Para o MPF, há evidências de extração irregular e a fiscalização é necessária.
Pauta de reivindicações dos ribeirinhos e indígenas:
* Realização de operação pente-fino na gleba Nova Olinda com uma articulação entre os órgãos federais e estaduais;
* Que a madeira das balsas barradas seja identificada e medida na comunidade de São Pedro, com o acompanhamento dos comunitários do movimento, e que essa madeira, em caso de irregularidade, seja destinada às comunidades da região;
* Paralisação por completo a de todos os planos de manejo da gleba Nova Olinda;
* Doação/regularização das Terras Indígenas Maró com a demarcação pela Funai;
* Que a madeira que se encontra no pátio e nos planos de manejo seja beneficiada em Santarém e que por meio de leilão seja criado um fundo de reserva em benefício da Gleba Nova Olinda, sendo que parte do arrecadado deve ser doada para as comunidades afetadas pela enchente no município de Santarém;
* Retirada dos grileiros e madeireiros da gleba Nova Olinda;
* Ampliação da área do projeto de assentamento agroextrativista de Vista Alegre.
