O povo das águas sofre com o excesso da água

O povo da Amazônia é considerado o povo das águas, acostumado a vida cotidiana com o rio sendo ao mesmo tempo seu sustento, seu caminho e sua alma, de onde surgem não apenas os peixes, mas os mitos e lendas que alimentam seu imaginário e sua cultura. Essa vida quase de uma liturgia diária com o rio, tem seus ciclos a quem o povo já se acostumou e ao que sempre teve explicações. Enchentes e vazantes dos rios, sempre trouxeram consigo significados importantes.
Porém, cada vez mais os fenômenos vem alterando as certezas que os mais velhos tinham sobre o ciclo natural das águas. É o que está acontecendo agora com a grande enchente dos rios da Amazônia. No caso do rio Tapajós, a enchente já é considerada a maior desde que é feita a medição, atingindo mais de 8 metros. A frente da cidade de Santarém está quase toda inundada, sendo que lojas e prédios estão com pisos submersos. Nos bairros da periferia da cidade, centenas de famĺias estão com suas casas alagadas.
Sobre a enchente cada um tem uma análise a fazer. Seu Carlos, pescando no cais alagado de Santarém, diz que só viu coisa parecida em 1952, “mas essa enchente tá sendo muito maior. É coisa da natureza, contra isso o homem não pode fazer nada”. Mas será que poderia evitar? Que ligações teria a grande cheia aos afeitos das mudanças climáticas no clima global?
Enquanto alguns buscam explicação, outros profetizam. Para seu Carlos a cheia do rio é símbolo de fertilidade. “Essa água vai buscar os peixes grandes lá de dentro dos aningais. Pode esperar que vem muito peixe por ai”, anuncia.
Mas o que é bom para uns, pode ser problema para outros. Grande calamidade estão passando as comunidades da região de várzea. Os moradores já preparam suas casas com altura normal de subida dos rios, mas dessa vez o volume das águas está deixando casas totalmente alagadas, e muitas foram levadas com a força do rio. Preocupação grande é não apenas com o isolamento de centenas de famílias e com a falta de alimento, mas principalmente com problemas de doenças de veiculação hídrica, que aumentam bastante nessas condições.
E assim, o povo das águas, vem sofrendo com o excesso dela, esperando que tudo volte ao normal e que o rio seja significado de vida e não de lamentação.
