Queimadas na Amazônia aborda a luta do ambientalista Chico Mendes na região da rodovia BR-163 e é um dos destaques da mostra
Em homenagem aos 50 anos de trabalho do cineasta inglês Adrian Cowell, acontece no Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB), em Brasília, a Mostra de Filmes “Amazônia segundo Adrian Cowell – 50 anos de cinema”. O cineasta registra a vida das populações tradicionais na Floresta Amazônica e os conflitos na região desde 1958.
Entre os dias 9 a 14 de dezembro, serão exibidos 14 filmes, a maioria inédito no Brasil, e realizadas mesas de discussões com a presença de documentaristas que acompanharam o trabalho do cineasta, especialistas em meio ambiente, indigenistas e moradores da região Amazônica, além de Adrian Cowell, autor dos filmes.
Um dos destaques da mostra é o filme Queimadas na Amazônia, sobre a luta do ambientalista Chico Mendes na região da rodovia BR-163 e o impacto do crescimento das plantações de soja ao longo da via após a sua morte. Queimadas na Amazônia será exibido na sexta-feira, dia 12, às 18h30.
Organizado pelo WWF-Brasil, por meio do Projeto Diálogos, em parceria com o CCBB, o painel de debates “Grandes obras de infra-estrutura e desenvolvimento regional na Amazônia: rumo à sustentabilidade?” será realizado após a exibição de Queimadas na Amazônia. Participarão da mesa de discussão Julio Miragaya (Ministério da Integração), Nilfo Wandsheer (Sind. Trabalhadores Rurais de Lucas do Rio Verde – MT), Adriana Ramos (ISA – Instituto Socioambiental), Venilson José Taveira da Silva (CEFT-BAM – Centro de Estudo, Pesquisa e Formação dos Trabalhadores do Baixo Amazonas) e demais representantes do Consórcio pelo Desenvolvimento Socioambiental da BR-163 (CONDESSA). Eles irão discutir a intensificação do desmatamento, queimadas, exploração ilegal de madeira e conflitos violentos pela Amazônia em conseqüência da abertura e pavimentação de rodovias na região. Tentativas de reverter a situação, tais como o Plano BR-163 Sustentável, elaborado por um grupo de trabalho interministerial com forte apoio de movimentos sociais e ONGs da região, também serão debatidas.
A Mostra de Filmes é uma iniciativa da Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, do Instituto Goiano de Pré-História e Antropologia, Petrobrás e Banco do Brasil.
