Por quê participar?
Você está satisfeito e satisfeita com a programação da sua TV? Sabia que as concessões de rádio e TV são públicas e que você poderia participar e opinar sobre o conteúdo que elas veiculam? Acha justo e democrático que a liberdade de expressão seja um direito de oito famílias e que o povo brasileiro tenha como única opção desligar a TV ou trocar de canal? Quase 60% das verbas publicitárias são destinadas a uma única emissora de televisão! Como ficam as emissoras públicas, educativas e comunitárias? Você sabia que estão querendo acabar com a liberdade na Internet? E o que tudo isso tem a ver com você?
A comunicação, assim como a educação, a saúde, a moradia, é um direito humano que deve ser exercido por todos e todas. Historicamente, no entanto, as políticas de comunicação no Brasil têm sido definidas sem a participação democrática da sociedade. Como resultado, temos um cenário de grande concentração dos meios de comunicação e poucos espaços de participação pública nas discussões sobre o setor.
A Conferência Nacional de Comunicação
Neste ano, pela primeira vez, haverá a oportunidade de mudar o cenário existente. Nos dias 1, 2 e 3 de dezembro será realizada a I Conferência Nacional de Comunicação – Confecom, com o tema “Comunicação: meios para a construção de direitos e de cidadania na era digital”. A Confecom será um espaço em que os cidadãos e cidadãs brasileiros poderão, pela primeira vez, apresentar suas demandas e propostas para políticas públicas de comunicação.
O debate deve envolver, entre outros, os seguintes assuntos: concentração da mídia no país, produção independente e regional na TV e no rádio, políticos donos de rádios e TVs, rádios e TVs comunitárias, o sistema público de comunicação, controle social das concessões, universalização da banda larga, fomento à produção do cinema nacional, direito autoral, rádios e Tvs digitais.
