O jornal Folha de Samaúma destaca a reportagem do David Cardoso demonstrando a sua preocupação com o resultado da enchente em relação a saúde ribeirinha. “Apesar da limpeza feita em frente a comunidade a cheia desde ano deixou muitos lixos na beira do rio deixando a água sem condições de uso. Como se não bastasse a grande quantidade de capins que encostam na beira da praia, deixa com casos de diarréia e gripe em nossa comunidade”.
“O grupo de jovem Lírios do Vale em parceria com a comunidade realizam trabalho de conscientização para os cuidados com o meio ambiente. No mês de junho realizaram confecção de cartazes com frases educativas em comemoração do Dia da Água. Esse trabalho é permanente”. Diz o Odair Gabriel.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit
crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
