II PLENÁRIA: O DESAFIO DE DISCUTIR E CRIAR MODELOS

Essas e outras questões serão levantadas durante a II Plenária do Fórum Amazônia Sustentável, que acontecerá em Manaus nos dias 25 e 26 de novembro.
Ícone mundial da diversidade socioambiental, a Amazônia abriga a maior bacia hidrográfica e a maior floresta tropical do mundo, além de significativa diversidade de povos nativos e outras populações.
Para elaborar mecanismos que garantam a preservação dos recursos naturais existentes na região, o Fórum Amazônia Sustentável criou uma coalizão intersetorial (organizações da sociedade civil, institutos de pesquisa e empresas e poder público). O diálogo é o caminho escolhido pelos atuais 130 signatários do Fórum, que pretendem colocar na pauta da II Plenária discussões sobre tecnologia e sustentabilidade em tempo de mudanças climáticas e mecanismos sustentáveis de fomento para a Amazônia.
A Comissão Executiva do Fórum estima a participação de aproximadamente 250 pessoas. Participarão das mesas de debate nomes como Márcio Macedo (BNDES), Augusto Barros (Banco da Amazônia), Tasso Azevedo (Serviço Florestal Brasileiro), Valmir Ortega (Secretário de Meio Ambiente do Pará), Reginaldo Magalhães (IFC), André Baniwa (Foirn), Guilherme Escalhão (Vale) e Sérgio Abranches (O Eco).
“A idéia é mostrar ao Brasil um espaço de diálogo que busca um novo modelo de desenvolvimento para a região, que detém 59% do território nacional e é responsável por cerca de 10% do PIB do país”, afirma Reginaldo Magalhães, membro da Comissão Executiva do Fórum como representante da IFC (Corporação Financeira Internacional).
