O Sairé é um semicírculo de madeira de um metro e quarenta centímentos de diâmentro, contendo dentro dois outros menores, colocados um a par do outro, sobre o diâmetro maior. Da união dos dois parte um raio do grande que excede a circunferência, formando uma cruz. Os menores têm também o seu raio perpendicular ao diâmetro comun, rematado em cruz; este arcos são envolvidos por algodão batido, enleados por fitas enfeitados com espelhinhos, doces, frutas, etc. Da cruz maior parte uma longa fita.
De acordo com RODRIGUES, João Barbosa (1890. p. 56). “O Çairé perpetua o dilúvio e as três pessoas da Santíssima Trindade: O arco significa a arca de Noé, os espelhinhos a luz, os biscoitos e frutas a abundância que havia na mesma arca, as três cruzes, sendo a superior maior, as três pessoas da Santíssima Trindade, e um só Deus verdadeiro, representado pela cruz maior elevada”.
Alter do Chão, no município de Santarém, ainda mantém viva a prática do Sairé. Essa devoção chegou a desaparecer por volta de 1943, mas foi retomada trinta anos depois, já apenas a encenação, com o fito de preservar uma prática que era secular.
Marca o inicío das festividades a “levantação” dos mastros do Juiz e da Juíza. Esses mastros são conduzidos das matas adjacentes ao local da festa e recebem profusa ornamentação de folhas, flores e frutos, e, no topo, uma bandeira. No último dia, há a “derrubada” desses mastros, quando se conhece quem serão os juizes da Festa do ano seguinte.
