Desmatamentos e queimadas estão transformando a floresta em cinzas
É cada vez mais inquestionável a importância da Floresta Amazônica para o equilíbrio climático do planeta terra. A cada dia surgem mais dados, estatísticas, números confirmados em pesquisas de cientistas que se dedicam a estudar o tema. O fenômeno do aquecimento global está cada vez mais se mostrando presente no nosso dia a dia e tem íntima ligação com a nossa Amazônia. A floresta armazena grandes quantidades de carbono existente na vegetação, que são liberados na atmosfera com a retirada da cobertura vegetal.
Apesar de alguns, movidos por falta de informação e interesses econômicos, afirmarem que o aquecimento global é uma falácia dos ecologistas e ONGs para impedir o “desenvolvimento”, não se pode negar a realidade. O Brasil é o 4º maior poluidor do clima no mundo – cerca de 75% das emissões vêm dos desmatamentos e queimadas, principalmente na região.
Mesmo antes de termos acesso às pesquisas dos cientistas, a sabedoria popular dos povos tradicionais da floresta, já nos alertava para a importância de cuidar das árvores, das águas, da vida. O artista popular Dico Tapajós já denunciava em sua música que “a voz que soou, o vento levou, ninguém quase ouviu. É o grito da terra clamando por vida pra todo o Brasil. É a linda Amazônia sorrindo tristonha porque já sentiu, no seu coração, a força esquisita que fere a bonita mulher da nação…” O conhecimento científico e o popular estão juntos dando um alerta à população: precisamos cuidar da floresta, proteger a vida.
Num primeiro momento, as queimadas podem funcionar como fertilizantes do solo, uma vez que as cinzas produzidas são convertidas em nutrientes vegetais pelos microorganismos da terra. No entanto, a queima sucessiva de uma mesma região pode matar esses mesmos microorganismos, tornando o solo cada vez mais empobrecido e impróprio para a agricultura. Ou seja, quando uma área já foi queimada várias vezes, ela passa a ser usada para pastagens e a agricultura parte para novas áreas de florestas, aumentando o desmatamento.
O problema é muito sério, porque além de estarmos destruindo nossa maior riqueza, a floresta amazônica, estamos contribuindo com o aquecimento global. De acordo com o Greenpeace, o desmatamento da região e mudanças no uso do solo são responsáveis por 75% das emissões brasileiras de gases do efeito estufa.
Também segundo o Greenpeace, os números do Deter (do Inpe) mostram que a destruição diminuiu em julho, mas o saldo nos 12 meses entre agosto de 2007 e julho de 2008 ainda é muito maior do que o período anterior (agosto/2006 e julho/2007). Significa dizer que o desmatamento e as queimadas diminuem um pouco num determinado mês, mas no final das contas o problema continua o mesmo ou maior. Enquanto assistimos o vai e vem dos números, a verdade é que a floresta ainda continua vulnerável à ação predatória do homem pela busca do enriquecimento a qualquer custo. O alerta está dado ao governo e a toda a sociedade.

Olá tenho 14 anos e me interessei muito pelo seu texto.
Comentário: Eu acho que todas as pessoas do mundo deveria ler esse texto. Pois temos que pensar em nos mesmos e também no nosso próximo, pois esta acontecendo isso agora mais e no futuro não sabemos o que vai acontecer. Eu espero que as pessoas se conscientizem pelo o que esta acontecendo. Espero que as pessoas cuide desse bem.
