Agora sim, crianças e adolescentes podem ficar livres do trabalho infanto-juvenil doméstico que tanto assola o país, principalmente o Pará. Pelo menos é o que propõe o decreto federal que entrou em vigor na última sexta-feira, 12/09, que proíbe a contratação de meninos e meninas como empregados domésticos. Quem desrespeitar essa ordem e contratar jovens com menos de 18 anos para o trabalho de casa pagará multa.
A nova Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (Pnad 2007), divulgada na última quinta-feira, 18/09, pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), mostra que o trabalho infantil reduziu no país, mas em ritmo menor do que anteriormente. Ainda são 4,8 milhões de crianças e adolescentes trabalhando no Brasil, o que corresponde a 10,8% da população nesta faixa etária. O decreto leva em consideração que atividades como lavar louças, passar roupas e varrer uma casa podem prejudicar e trazer riscos à saúde e ao desenvolvimento de crianças e adolescentes. Antes dessa determinação era proibida apenas a contratação dos menores de 16 anos.
