Mídia Livre: Crise traz esperança

A crise econômica mundial desferiu um forte golpe nos meios de comunicação hegemonicos e, de certa forma, cúmplices do modelo econômico. Isto abriu espaço para o crescimento de mídias livres, que não têm a ilusão da objetividade, no entanto pretendem-se democráticas e representativas.
Em contraste com o pessimismo de outras épocas, a crise econômica renovou a esperança daqueles que há muito clamam contra a promiscuidade entre o jornalismo e as finanças globais. Esta é a conclusão de ativistas e peritos em jornalismo que debateram o futuro da mídia livre durante o Fórum Social Mundial 2009 , em Belém, Brasil.
“O poder econômico e o midiático, que conjuntamente dominam a sociedade e controlam o poder político, ficaram debilitados pela crise do neoliberalismo, que recebeu um golpe mortal,” disse Ignacio Ramonet, diretor do Le Monde Diplomatique. “A aliança com os meios financeiros e a adoção dos seus métodos por parte da mídia são a causa da decadência da imprensa,” disse o jornalista.
Altamiro Borges, da Associação Vermelho foi ainda mais longe e considerou “o grosso das corporações mediáticas como os maiores culpados pela crise, com a sua pregação pelo desmonte do Estado”, avisando que não vale a pena manter a ilusão em uma regeneração moral por parte da imprensa: “Já está em curso uma nova interpretação para justificar medidas de ajuste ainda mais duras,” acusou.
A linha de responsabilização dos jornalistas encontrou eco entre todos os participantes: Marcos Dantas, professor na Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro atacou a palavra “mídia”, por esta institucionalizar o termo e ocultar responsabilidades. “Existem donos, editores e jornalistas que não são pessoas mandadas, mas que dispõem-se à manipulação.”
“Não se pode acreditar quando a mídia diz ter sido enganada, é uma forma de apresentarem-se como vítimas e ocultar a própria cumplicidade,” confirmou Pascual Serrano, do jornal Rebelión. Serrano também se pronunciou contra do silenciamento de analistas e fontes críticas do sistema econômico mundial antes da crise se tornar incontornável.
“A crise em si não foi minimizada, no entanto, o formam suas causas e as responsabilidades,” observou Joaquin Constanzo, diretor da Inter Press Service para a América Latina. Contudo, Constanzo insistiu que os anteriormente silenciados permanecem mudos: “Os mesmos analistas neoliberais que não previram a crise continuam a aparecer dando soluções e citando a necessidade de pequenos ajustes.”
Se os responsáveis pela mídia parecem não aprender com os próprios erros, há quem diga que o mesmo não se aplica ao público. “O jornalismo sofre duma crise de credibilidade, as pessoas na rua sabem que são enganadas pela mídia: o mito da objetividade caiu e com ele a credibilidade dos grandes meios de comunicação,” indicou Serrano.
A crescente abertura do público a novas formas de comunicação alternativas pode ser uma das armas contra-hegemônicas no futuro, aproveitando as brechas tecnológicas ainda por ocupar e democratizando o acesso às tecnologias de informação, concordaram os membros dos painéis.
Blogs, páginas de grupos de direitos humanos ou grupos de discussão podem contrariar a crescente concentração global dos meios de comunicação social. “As estruturas existentes não se podem democratizar porque os próprios profissionais não querem, estas têm de ser desmontadas para construir outros canais de comunicação,” concluiu Dantas.
O desafio foi lançado por Jonas Valente da Intervozes: “A democratização do debate público sobre novas formas de comunicação vai contra os interesses dos grandes meios, mas a população tem que responder com um grito ensurdecedor.”
Com a internet chegando ao exorbitante número de 1 bilhão de usuários, Sergio Amadeu, Professor da Faculdade Casper Libero apontou – entre muitas outras gesticulações – que o projeto da internet ainda “não está acabado nem está sob controle” . A “empolgada” intervenção de Amadeu mostrou que a dificuldade não está “em falar, mas em ser ouvido, e para isso necessitamos de criar clusters de ativistas.”
Mas, como garantir a sobrevivência das midías alternativas num mundo informativo dominado pela lógica do lucro e da verticalização? “A horizontalização dos meios de informação requer que estes sejam de fins não lucrativos, com uma gestão coletiva, participativa, e com um esforço por estimular a autoestima da comunidade valorizando a sua identidade cultural,” notou José Soter da Abraço.
A inevitável questão dum financiamento que não comprometa a independência informativa levou a uma discussão animada, prevalecendo as posições a favor do financiamento misto, sem renunciar à intervenção do Estado: “Abdicar dos recursos do Estado, isto é da riqueza produzida pela população, significa deixar estes recursos nas mãos dos conglomerados,” disse Valente.
A acusação da excessiva dependência do Estado por parte da midia alternativa foi rejeitada categoricamente por Renato Rovai da Revista Forum. “E todos os que estão produzindo mídia de graça? Os grandes conglomerados não sobreviviriam um mês sem o Estado. Na França disponibilizaram-se 600 milhões de Euros para ajudar o setor da imprensa, imaginem o que 6 milhões de reais fariam para as mídias livres,” contra-atacou.
É na América Latina que se começam a sentir os primeiros sinais de apoio às mídias alternativas e a participação pública. Maria Pia Matta da AMARC deu o exemplo do Uruguai que “acaba de reconhecer os mesmos direitos às midias públicas, privadas e associativas,” acrescentando que o direito à comunicação é um “direito humano que envolve todos os outros e sobre o qual não é possível avançar sem um trabalho direto com os governos.”
No meio do entusiasmo generalizado, houve quem manifestou cautela, apontando para a necessidade de profissionalizar o setor: “Sem uma base de jornalistas profissionais que saibam processar o conteúdo das notícias, o sucesso das mídias alternativas é impossível.,” disse Constanzo.
Uma crítica que Sandra Russo, do diário Página 12, explicitou: “A comunicação gerada pelos meios sociais é geralmente chata e só convence os que já foram convencidos. O grande inimigo agora é a frase feita, o lugar-comum, que é entendido como transmitindo ideologia.” Isso talvez em referência a uma participante que acusou os organizadores do Fórum de “burgueses” devido às muitas perguntas que lhe colocaram após pedir acreditação jornalística. Afinal, lá estava ela, acreditada.
Boas intenções, poucas medidas
A crise econômica e da ideologia neoliberal, a crescente democratização dos meios de comunicação na América Latina e o declínio dos meios dominantes proporcionam uma oportunidade única para a propagação dos meios de informação alternativa, diz a declaração final dos participantes no Fórum da Mídia Livre, que foi objeto de críticas pela falta de propostas concretas.
Só quando a mídia livre lute de igual para igual contra os grandes conglomerados haverá uma verdadeira liberdade de expressão, devendo-se para isso apostar de forma incondicional na profissionalização e na articulação internacional dos movimentos sociais, concordaram os participantes.
Nesse sentido surgiu a sugestão de estabelecer um instituto de formação jornalística e de tomar medidas que levem a experiência da mídia livre às camadas jovens. Insistindo na condição de virtuais produtores de mídia de todos os indivíduos, os membros do fórum apelaram à ampliação da mídia livre como afirmação do direito universal à comunicação.
Os redatores do texto também chamaram a atenção para a obrigatoriedade de promover uma comunicação participativa e horizontal que escape à linguagem da mídia comercial e à sua lógica de lucro, sem deixar de apontar ao financiamento auto-sustentável e público como os mais desejáveis.
Apesar da unânime exigência de democratização dos fundos públicos, e o apelo para os governos apoiarem a difusão das tecnologias de informação, e que assegurem constitucionalmente o direito à comunicação, o papel do Estado tornou a ser controverso com alguns elementos do fórum a notar o risco de cair na dependência do paternalismo estatal.
A própria declaração foi criticada por uma ex-jornalista e escritora que manifestou a sua indignação pela “falta de instrumentos de ação com um calendário claro,” virando costas ao painel que tentava dirigir-se a ela. (IPS/TerraViva)

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I
