Origem de Nuquini

Antigamente nesta localidade, viviam apenas 18 famílias no qual um dos moradores, foi o fundador conhecido por Valeriano de Oliveira.

O Sr. Valeriano com os demais moradores chegaram a um ponto de como chamar a comunidade, que então era habitada mas não tinha nome.

Sabendo que alguns quilomêtros dalí havia um local chamada de Terra Preta, onde hoje é cultivada por um morador chamado Celino Rodrigues. Aquele local era habitado por índios totalmente selvagens da tribo Munduruku viviam nus e sobreviviam da natureza.

Os índios baixavam da “Terra Preta” para a margem do rio Tapajós e na descida deles passavam próximo a moradia do sr. Teodoro, para a ponta de Pedra chamada Quini. Os índios pescavam, comiam os peixes crus e faziam as suas fantasias como de costume.

Com ajuda dos moradores o Sr. Valeriano de Oliveira juntou as denominações nú, dos índios que viviam nús e Quini da origem do nome da Ponta de Pedra. Ficando assim concordada e aceita por todos de Nuquini.
