Do Guia Turístico de Belterra
Por ser considerada “A cidade Americana no Coração da Amazônia”, Belterra, assim como Forlândia, possui uma arquitetura singular, lembrando uma típica cidade do interior dos Estados Unidos. A arquitetura chama atenção de quem visita o município. As vilas que abrigavam os funcionários que 
trabalhavam no projeto, são preservadas até hoje. As residências são cobertas de telhas de barro tipo “francesa”, têm banheiros internos, varandas, afastamento lateral e jardins. Aliás, belos jardins. Independente da casa, os moradores preservam o hábito de conservar os jardins ao redor de suas casas. Na verdade, na época do projeto, a companhia Ford realizava concursos anuais para premiar o melhor jardim do município. O objetivo era aumentar a quantidade de frutos e hortaliças para que os moradores conhecessem o valor da dieta à base de vegetais. Mas, existe uma residência que chama atenção de todos e leva ao passado várias pessoas que trabalharam no Projeto da Borracha. A Casa 1 (um), como é chamada pelos habitantes da cidade, é uma casa de sonhos. Ampla, com uma vista privilegiada da varanda, grande salão e vários compartimentos, a Casa Um foi projetada para receber o mentor do projeto, o milionário Henry Ford. No entanto, isso nunca aconteceu, pois 40 dias antes da viagem prevista para Belterra, Ford perdeu o filho e desistiu da viagem e do projeto. Na conversa dos moradores que participaram dessa história holywoodiana restam apenas saudades e sempre um “se”. Talvez, se Henry Ford conhecesse aquele lugar, nunca tivesse coragem de deixá-lo.
