Para que as nossas crianças não tenham esses problemas é necessário um cuidado muito especial de seus pais e responsáveis . *Até os seis anos de idade, um adulto deve limpar/escovar os dentes da criança 3 vezes ao dia. Até os oito anos de idade – deve escovar os dentes da criança pelo menos antes de dormir. Até os 12 / 13 anos de idade – um adulto deve supervisionar, confirmar se já escovou os dentes” .

Segundo a Dra. Hilzia Elane Bacellar “a escovação deve ser feita sempre depois de comermos alguma alimento, principalmente quando tem açucar. O importante é manter os dentes sem os resíduos de alimentos. São essas sujeirinhas que ficam na boca que grudam na parte de fora dos dentes (o esmalte ) e causam a cárie. Se toda vez que comermos algo a escova de dente entrar em ação não há carie. Nenhum dente nasce com cárie, os antibióticos não causam cárie (o açucar que esta no antibiótico e que não e retirado da boca e que vai causar cárie). Então, vamos ficar atentos e fazer da escova de dente nossa aliada para combater a cárie no dente. Não esquecendo que os bêbes mesmo sem dentes precisam ter suas boquinhas limpas, isso se faz com uma frandinha molhada com água limpa, apenas água limpa e filtrada”.
