Nasce uma terra abençoada!

Há 320 anos , na aldeia dos Tupinambás, chegava uma caravana de “brancos” liderada pelo padre Antonio da Fonseca. Bem recebidos foram pelos selvagens, que dançavam, dando as boas vindas. Em seguida, devido a hospitalidade e também as belezas naturais, celebrou uma missa, dando-se assim a fundação da MISSÃO, que recebeu o nome de “Aldeia de Santo Inácio de Loyola”, em homenagem ao fundador da Companhia de Jesus.
Na aldeia moravam aproximadamente quatrocentos índios. Além das tradicionais ocas, havia um “Campo de Oração”, onde reuniam-se para prestar cultos e fazer preces ao seus deuses, representados por imagens de barro cozido, que ficavam em lugar de destaque, um altar coberto de palhas e folhas.
Os jesuítas, iniciaram portanto seu trabalho de catequese e cerca de um anos depois(1691) construíram uma capela com a primeira padroeira da aldeia, Nossa Senhora do Rosário, que era festejada no dia 31 de maio.
Os missionários procuraram ensinar aos silvícolas a escrita e a leitura. Deram-lhes aulas de catecismo da religião católica, conscientizando-os de que cada homem deveria conviver ou casar-se com apenas uma mulher. Só tempos depois, os jesuítas celebraram os primeiros batizados e casamentos, tornando-os cristãos.

Going to graduate school was a positive decision for me. I enjoyed the coursework, the presentations, the fellow students, and the professors.
